Volunteers Needed
Last updated 01-11-2007
The Bluemont Fair is run completely by volunteers and it takes a lot of volunteers to have everything run smoothly. We love them and depend on them because without volunteers there would be no fun! If you're interested in getting to know the folks in Bluemont and have some time to help out, there are a number of volunteer opportunities:
Big-time volunteers - We have just over two dozen hard-core volunteers who help organize the major attractions and oversee the whole affair (starting in January and meeting at least monthly through Fair time). These positions are time-intensive and require people of great dedication. We're very lucky because most of our Fair Chair volunteers are gluttons for punishment and come back every year, but we do have a few positions open up every year.
Big-help volunteers - We have a dozen of so volunteers who help our Fair Chairs before or after the Fair. These volunteers are called upon to do everything from helping to send out mailings, checking in vendors, measuring spaces in fields, to putting up and taking down signs and more. Most of these volunteers contribute a few days worth of time.
Fair day volunteers - We have hundreds (yes, hundreds!) of volunteers who work during the Fair. Most of them help out for a two-to-four hour shift, but many enjoy working different aspects of the Fair and bounce from job to job all day long! Some of the jobs these volunteers do include: collecting money and stamping hands at the gates, playing games with children at the Children's Fair, assisting with the 10K race, and selling items at our country store and shed.
Volunteer organizations - A number of volunteer organizations help us with motor and pedestrian safety during the Fair. If you're part of a volunteer organization that would like to help, please contact us with your ideas.
