May I camp in town overnight?
No. However, there are two camping facilities very close — Bear's Den and Watermelon Park. Click here for more information about these and other nearby lodging and camping locations.
What time will I be able to set up?
Set up times vary by committee and location. Most set up times are on the Friday before the fair somewhere between 12 and 7. Check the information sheets and confirmation letters from your committee chairs for specifics. If a chair has stated that check-in or set up starts at a particular hour, please do NOT try to set up earlier without prior coordination with your committee chair. The set up hours are coordinated with the property owners and it causes ill will if their wishes are not respected. Set up times are strictly enforced at the Bluemont Community Center area as that facility runs a day care for small children and their safety is of great concern. Smaller exhibits that do not have canopies or tents sometimes set up on the Saturday of the fair. Everyone is strongly encouraged to be set up by 9:30 a.m, 30 minutes before the fair opens. All vehicles must be moved out of non-approved parking areas by 9:30 a.m.
Do you provide security for leaving valuables overnight?
No, we provide roaming security but you are responsible for your space and inventory - as outlined in the information sheet
What do I do with my trash/unwanted stuff?
All trash MUST be placed in or around the designated trash receptacles for pickup. The trash crew will begin removing trash receptacles as soon as the fair closes. When you are ready to dispose of your trash, if there are no longer trash receptacles in your area, please deposit unwanted items in the dumpsters in the main parking area.
Where do I get my exhibitor pass?
From your committee chair. Some send them out in advance and others have them ready for you at check-in/set up. Check your confirmation letter for specifics. If you did not get a confirmation letter, then contact your committee chair for instructions.
What do I do if I forgot to bring it? Contact your committee chair.
Note: if your committee chair is at the fair and the fair is underway at the time you discover the problem, you can probably reach your committee chair via our internal Fair radio system. Look for staff with walkie-talkies and ask them to contact your committee chair for you.
Where do I report for check-in?
Check your confirmation letter or instruction sheet for specifics. Each committee has their own check-in process and location. All food vendors check-in at the entrance to the Bluemont Community Center.
How do I get there?
Click here for maps and directions to Bluemont, Virginia.
Where will I park?
Unless you are told otherwise in your confirmation letter or by your committee chair, everyone parks in the general free parking area. There is no parking allowed along Snickersville Turnpike in the Fair area at any time before or during fair hours.
What are the times that one-way traffic is in effect?
Snickersville Turnpike will be one-way east bound from Clayton Hall Road to Yellow Schoolhouse Road from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the Saturday of the fair and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. Everyone's cooperation will be GREATLY appreciated.
Where can I get drinking water?
For large quantities of potable water, a water truck will be located in the main parking area. Please be sure to get whatever water you will require BEFORE or AFTER fair hours. Drinking water will be available at numerous vendors and for sale by local scout organizations.
Is there an ATM in Bluemont?
No. There are ATMs in the nearby towns of Round Hill and Purcellville.
Can I get change in Bluemont?
No.
Are there any areas that are difficult for people with disabilities?
Bluemont is set in the foothills of the Blue Ridge and the main road through the village does slope some which can make it difficult for non-motorized wheelchairs to manage. Several of the exhibitor areas, and the main parking lot, are pastures when the fair isn't going on and while we try to keep them mowed and fairly flat, they may be difficult for non-sure footed patrons to navigate. Several of the smoother areas are accessed via gravel driveways which can be a struggle for strollers and wheelchairs to manage although most do not have too much trouble. Lastly, our art show is upstairs at the Lake Store. We do have designated handicap parking which is closer to the entrance gates.
Where are the restrooms?
There are more than a two dozen port-a-johns strategically placed throughout the fair. They are serviced every night. There are handicap accessible port-a-johns at the back of the Bluemont Community Center and at Neilson's lot. Several port-a-johns are located in the parking area and there is at least one port-a-john in each exhibitor area. Please refer to the fair map for specific locations.
