2005 Poster Artwork Artist

Sally Biondi

2005 Poster ArtworkAs a self-taught artist, I approach my subjects with total individuality. Having grown up in Ohio, but now a long time resident of Virginia, I am still influenced by my midwest roots in the choice of my subjects: tilted mailboxes, snow covered pines, and "back yard" scenes.

Using different techniques, such as salt washes and press painting and a variety of different papers, I attempt to express the peace and tranquillity of these appealing scenes. To meet the demand for my work, it is necessary to paint at least five hours every day. Each painting is individually "created" rather than mass-produced.

I was challenged and delighted for several years while teaching watercolor painting at art shops in the area. I learned much from my students. The experienced taught me to understand technique more thoroughly and to be more articulate about my work.
