2006 Poster Artwork Artist
Yvette Webster
It was all about the cows. My friend and the current Bluemont Postmaster, Rachel Wetherill, drove me out to Bluemont for a brief visit, thirty-two years ago. I fell in love with the open fields of wildflowers, the mountains, the river and especially those cows. I never asked when she would give me a ride home so I've been living in Western Loudoun ever since.
Drawing is a form of therapy for me that I rarely engage in due to work demands. I'm self-taught and my usual subject matter is nature. I currently favor small, "ordinary" objects in nature including insects, weeds and fallen leaves. My medium of choice is pen and ink but I did try out colored pencils for this particular sunflower drawing.
I'm deeply honored to have my artwork chosen for this year's Bluemont Fair poster, as Bluemont is my favorite village and where I would live if only I could.
