2007 Poster Artwork Artist

Maria Nicklin

2007 Poster ArtworkI've been a professional graphic designer and illustrator for just about 20 years now and I've drawn for as long as I can remember.

The illustration that won the poster contest is actually a re-do of a drawing I did back in October of 2000 for a little calendar. It's sort of a collage of many of the things I love about Bluemont -- the foothills, the flowers, the farms and barns; the pumpkins were out at the time (at Great Country Farms). For the poster, the image was first drawn with pen and ink, then scanned and colored electronically.

I work mostly with pen & ink, and pencil. I'll get bold from time to time and color my drawings with markers or watercolors, but I am by no means a fine artist/watercolorist. I love the art of telling stories with pictures and have a passion for illustration, storyboarding and animation art. I have one major live action, animated documentary in the works and enjoy creating short all-art films when I can.
